“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High.”       -Psalm 92:1

Music News

From ancient times, God’s people have worshipped, honored and revered God through a range of musical instruments and songs.  The music ministry of First Baptist Church is proud to carry on this legacy with our variety of musical ministries and the talents of God’s people!

Sanctuary Choir

Sanctuary Choir is the 'core choir' of the Music Ministry in weekly Worship services. The choir sings every week from September to June. One of the highlights of the year will be the presentation of a Christmas Concert on Sunday evening, December 19, 2004 . Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 8:00 p.m.   Come and enjoy song and fellowship. "There's room in the loft for you!"

Director – Rev. Dick Casey

Joyful Noise

Joyful Noise, the choir for youth in grades 7 -12, rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. , beginning September 29, 2004 , through early May. Fun and fellowship, as well as singing are shared by this lively group of teens! In addition to singing regularly in Worship, for the Family Christmas Eve Service, Easter Sunrise, and Youth Sunday, this choir will participate in YouthFest 2005, an ecumenical massed choir festival for teens. All junior and senior highs students are invited "to make a joyful noise to the Lord!"

Director - Joanna Perkins

Children's Choirs

Image of the Carol ChoirThe Cherub and Carol Choirs, provide early musical and Christian learning experiences for children age 4 - 6th grades.  Children enjoy varied musical activities such as singing, playing a variety of percussion and musical instruments, and learning new songs.  Highlights of this year include the Children’s Christmas Musical, “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” on Sunday evening, December 5th, and the 19th Annual Children’s Choralfest on March 5, 2005 .  The CHERUB CHOIR, directed by Lana Harner, includes children from age 4 - 1st grade. The CAROL CHOIR, under the direction of Christine Baird, is for children in the 2nd - 6th grade.  Both of these choirs meet on Wednesdays from 6:45 - 7:45 p.m. , beginning September 15, 2004 , thru mid-spring.  All children are welcomed to be a part of the Cherub or Carol Choir.

First Baptist Ringers

First Baptist Ringers meet on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. , from September - May.  Prior musical or handbell experience is needed for this advanced handbell choir.  Besides ringing monthly in Worship, the ringers will ring in the Christmas Concert and in the Spring Concert.

Director - Christine Baird

Bells of Praise

Bells of Praise, for students in grades 6 -12 and adults who want to learn to ring, meets on Monday evenings from 6:40-7:25 p.m. , beginning September 27, 2004 , thru May.  Prior musical or handbell experience is helpful, but not necessary to ring in this bell choir.  These ringers ring regularly in Worship, for the Family Christmas Eve Service, and for Youth Sunday.
