Health
Ministries
The purpose of the Health Ministry is to plan programming for our church and community that incorporates mind, body and spirit, directed toward a healthy life style.
Blood pressure checks are offered monthly after Sunday
worship and the day is posted on front and back entrance doors.
We send get well cards to members of our congregation who are ill, sympathy cards are sent to those who have suffered a loss and a prayer book is sent to anyone who loses a spouse.
We support Yoga, Rev-It-Up and Body Recall classes that are offered to strengthen, increase flexibility and stamina. We have also supported the Upward Sports Ministry as Game Day Sponsors for our Basketball and Cheerleading program.
Our Back Door program puts safety and health tips in each bathroom. We also place Hand Sanitizer Dispensers around the church as a preventative measure for our congregation and visitors. We maintain the First Aid Kits and a glucometer in the Health Ministries Room and have health equipment available to the congregation and community, such as walkers, canes, wheel chairs, etc. which have been donated to us. We were supported by a First Baptist family to acquire an Automated External Defibrillator Device (AED) for the church in case of an emergency.
We partner with the Health Ministries of Episcopal Retirement Homes and Good Samaritan Hospital Health Ministries who support us with programming and seminars.
Special programs in 2011 have included CPR-AED training, a walking program and Advance Care Planning. We appreciate your participation and support and invite you to share your interests and needs as we work together to be healthier and grow spiritually.
